Here's a common Royal Mercury typewriter made in Japan some time in the 1960s. Everything works except for the shift/shift lock keys. There is a missing spring that's supposed to connect and stretch from two certain points underneath the shift lock keys. (see third picture) Because of this, when the shift key is depressed, it automatically functions as a shift lock key, and to get back to typing in lowercase, you have to get your finger underneath the shift lock key and push up on the keytop. Other than that, this typewriter is functional, and just needs a cleaning and new ribbon (universal ribbons do fit this typewriter.)
