Up for sale is an absolutely breathtaking Smith-Corona "Flattop," made in 1931. This typewriter was Smith-Corona's first flattop model, and it ended up being an extremely popular and successful design. This individual model was only referred to as the "Smith-Corona" and was only made for a few years with the medallion on the main ribbon cover (1931-1933) You can read more about this model and other Smith-Coronas on the following website: http://sevenels.net/typewriters/s-coronas.htm
This typewriter itself is in amazing condition, and is fully functional right down to the bell. It also features a mathematical keyboard (extremely rare for this model) which features the degrees symbol, square root, and pi symbol. The beautiful original red paint is in great shape as well, with only minimal wear or imperfections. The labels are also in great shape, although there is some minor wear/whiting on a few labels (see pictures). Most of the nickel plating is somewhat worn and doesn't shine 100%, however none of it is flaking or rusting. Although this typewriter is fully functional and works perfectly, I wouldn't recommend this machine to be used as a workhorse, but rather more of a beautiful display/conversation piece that is still functional. It does use universal ribbons, so keeping this typewriter typing is not a worry. The original case is in fair shape, although it does have evidence of wear, and the handle is not original (it would have been leather, not metal).
