This Smith-Corona Silent was used at Duke University, according to the sticker on the case. The escapement wheel makes a loud noise when the carriage is being returned, but it's nothing unusual for this specific model. This machine would be fine for heavy writing, and does use universal ribbons when the time comes for a new one. If you're a Duke fan, then this typewriter's history is a bonus!
