Here's an uncommon depression era (serial number dating this machine from 1937) Underwood Junior. Underwood produced these models through the Great Depression, so the Junior is an extra historic machine.
As said on sevenels.net, "Underwood made its own entry into the Depression market with the Junior. The Junior was not remarkably different from Underwood's other portables; they just removed all but the most rudimentary features. Even the left-hand platen knob has been abandoned. This machine is not easily identified, as the name Junior appears nowhere on it. However, if you come across an Underwood portable with no ribbon color selector, no left platen knob, and no margin, backspace, or tab keys, it's probably a Junior."
This specific Junior is in really great shape. The paint is extremely shiny and in remarkable condition. It still has the interesting looking spool covers, which are commonly missing. This typewriter is fully functioning, although I wouldn't recommend using this one for heavy use. It does need new rubber feet, but overall, this typewriter is in near mint condition. There probably isn't too many of these left in this good of shape.
