1947 Smith-Corona Silent
Up for sale is a classic Smith-Corona Silent which dates from 1947. This model is a favorite among many, and this one is in great condition. The only thing to complain about is some minor surface rust here and there, and on some of the metal latches inside the typewriter's case. Luckily the rust is effecting anything regarding the functionality of this awesome machine. For the most part, this typewriter is in exceptional cosmetic shape for being from 1947. It also isn't a bad typewriter to write with. Even though all of the mechanisms are lubricated, every now and then the escapement won't space after a key is pressed if you're typing too quickly. At about 70 WPM, this happens about 1/10th of the time or so. If you slow down and take your time (if you aren't a fast typist to begin with, then you don't have to worry about it.) Overall, I wouldn't recommend this typewriter for heavy use, but it can be used nonetheless because it's otherwise fully functional. This typewriter represents the great streamline design which was popular through the 1940's.
