Up for sale is an amazing Olivetti Valentine which appears to have been manufactured in Spain in 1970 (the serial number records aren't extremely certain/accurate for this model)
As said on the Virtual Typewriter Museum website, "If there is one post-1920s typewriter that deserves a place in this museum, it is the Olivetti Valentine, a design by Ettore Sottsass."
Much more can be found on the popularity of the Valentine, but overall, the Valentine is a classic. The case was designed so that the typewriter fits inside, but once it is outside of the case, the case can be used as a seat, so the writer could visit anywhere, sit down, put the typewriter on his/her lap, put in a piece of paper, and type away.
The Valentine is a very special machine in the typewriter world, but the mechanism and typing action isn't actually anything noteworthy despite how popular this typewriter is.
This typewriter itself is in excellent shape, and is fully functional. There is only some minor wear on the main cover, just above the "valentine" name above the keyboard. This was likely from the machine being put inside the case, and is common on many Valentines. Other than that, the typewriter is in near mint shape. It does not use universal ribbons, but Olivetti Ribbons can easily be found for sale on eBay. As mentioned, the Valentine's mechanism is no different than any other Olivetti models of the period, so it's nothing to boast about. That being said, it's a pretty reliable machine and it can be used frequently and heavily. As long as it's taken care of, this classic machine can be enjoyed for a very long time.
