Up for sale is a Smith-Corona Classic 12 which was made sometime in the 1970s. This machine would be a great budget machine considering the fact that it does work well, however it has a few quirks that the buyer should be aware of. First, the carriage begins to bind and slow down once you go past where I have the right hand margin set. Effectively, the usable carriage size is only the standard 8 inches instead of 12. Additionally, the left hand margin plastic piece is missing, however there's a metal stub left that can be moved and manipulated just as you could with the pastic head which is still present on the right hand margin. Lastly, there's some areas of rust on this machine, however the rust itself does not effect the functionality of the typewriter.
Other than what I described, everything is fully functional. This typewriter is very reliable and is an excellent machine for heavy use if you don't mind not being able to type landscape-wise on paper. It uses universal ribbons, and is pretty easy to use and care for. As I mentioned, if you're looking for a solid typer for a good price, then this would be a great choice.
