Here's a Remington Model 5 which was made in 1948. This machine is in near mint shape overall, and is fully functional right down to the bell. The Model 5 was one of Remington's most popular machines made before and after WWII, and for good reason. The typing mechanism feels smooth and reliable. The touch control feature on this machine works surprisingly better than it does on many other machines. I prefer a lighter touch, however if you like a harder touch then this machine can easily be tuned to your liking. The ribbon caps are not missing like they almost always are, although this machine does not use universal ribbons. The ribbon can be re-thread, or otherwise any Remington Portable Model 5 ribbon will work and can be found on eBay. This typewriter can be used heavily and/or frequently despite its age.
