Up for sale is a super nice Olympia SM7 which not only has a wide carriage, but writes in script (cursive). This typewriter was made in Western Germany in 1963, and is fully functional right down to the bell. Cosmetically, this typewriter is almost mint, but there are a few tiny little scratches/other paint flaws (see all pictures). The chrome on this machine shines beautifully, including the chrome on the case. The case is also in really great shape and is very clean, considering the other cases I have seen. The beautiful script font can be seen in the type sample with the second photo. The extra wide carriage does take up some extra space and makes this machine rather heavy, especially for a portable, but it allows this typewriter to write landscape-wise on a standard 8' x 11" piece of paper with a few inches to spare on either end- so this typewriter can also type on slightly larger papers if need be.
Care-wise, this typewriter is an easy one. Universal ribbons fit this machine perfectly, and overall it's just an easy machine to use, with all the features you could ever ask for, including touch control.
This typewriter can definitely be used very heavily and frequently, and would be an excellent workhorse.
Not everyone is looking for a cursive typewriter with a wide carriage, but if you are, then this is the one for you.
