Up for sale is a a beautiful Royal model HH which was manufactured in 1956. The HH is one of my favorite desktops, and if you're looking for a solid workhorse to write a novel on, then I strongly urge you to keep on reading. This typewriter is in excellent shape both cosmetically and mechanically, although it has a few scratches and evidence of wear. Everything is perfectly functional on this typewriter right down to the bell, which is actually quite loud. This typewriter has an elite typeface (slightly smaller than standard) which can be confirmed by the HHE in the serial number (The E denotes that it has an elite typeface). As I mentioned before, this typewriter is an excellent workhorse and was designed and marketed for secretarial purposes, therefore it was made to do extremely heavy writing for years. It's also packed with a few additional and useful features which are shown in the instructions manual: http://site.xavier.edu/polt/typewriters/royalhh.pdf. Even though it may be a desktop, this typewriter is still extremely easy to use and care for. Universal ribbons do not fit this typewriter, however I modified original SCM spools that I had so they would work in this typewriter. Those spools can either be rethread, otherwise you can buy Royal standard desktop ribbons which were designed to fit only Royal Desktops including the HH model: https://www.amazon.com/Standard-Desktop-Typewriter-Ribbon-Compatible/dp/B002BU4CZQ.
If you don't like Amazon, the same spools are easily found on eBay. I would recommend having the ribbon re-thread instead of buying new spools/ribbon every time you replace the ribbon because the spools are slightly more expensive than normal.
Overall, this typewriter is a perfect workhorse that is ready to be used heavily. If you have the space for it on a desk or table, I would highly recommend it.
