Up for sale is an uncommon Brother De Luxe 900 which was manufactured sometime in the 1960s in Nagoya, Japan. This model is usually labeled "Brother" without any model name, but it is known as the JP-3 as a whole. If you look up "Brother De Luxe 900," you will not find anything like this typewriter. I have owned a Montgomery Ward Signature 510 which was identical to this typewriter minus the branding.
This typewriter is in excellent shape overall, with only a few scratches on the body. The blue paint looks beautiful and shines almost like new. This typewriter is a very smooth machine, and is actually one of my favorite typewriters to type with. Despite stereotypes about Japanese manufactured typewriters, this typewriter is really high quality. The carriage slides extremely smoothly, so the experience of returning the carriage is actually something to look forward to at the end of the line after the bell dings. This machine is also loaded with all the features you could ask for (just look at the owner's manual- which is included by the way). One of my favorite features is a rapid "advance lever" which feeds the paper through with only two easy strokes. The only other machine which I have seen with the same feature was an Olympia SG-1, a classic, huge, and high-end dekstop. The ribbon color selector is also a push-button selector rather than a switch, which I have only seen on the JP-3.
All in all, this is a really impressive typewriter, and it can definitely be used very heavily and reliably. As I mentioned, this typewriter comes with the original owner's manual, as well as a few extra papers and two keys for the case (see pictures). This machine does use universal ribbons which are sold on this website.
If you're looking for a unique workhorse to use heavily, look no further!
