Up for sale is a nice little blue Sears Tutor which was manufactured in England in 1967. This typewriter is in really great shape, and is fully functional right down to the bell. The Sears Tutor is essentially a rebranded Smith-Corona Corsair or Corsair Deluxe, with a color change and a slightly different shaped ribbon cover. This machine types crisply with a short and snappy keystroke. The "A" typehead is slightly out of alignment, but it makes the typeface look a little more authentic. This typewriter does not use universal ribbons, but the correct ribbons can be purchased here. I ran out of ribbon in the middle of rethreading the spools, so this typewriter ribbon is not quite complete, thus it may run out of ink sooner than normal, however it should still last around a year if you keep reversing the ribbon after the ribbon feeds to one side, and also utilize the ribbon color selector by switching it to red when the top portion of the ribbon is dry (switching to "red" makes the typeheads strike the lower half of the ribbon which is unused with the setting on black). I took $10 off what I would normally charge for this machine if I had installed a complete ribbon to compensate for this.
I could not locate an owner's manual specifically for the Sears Tutor, however the SCM Corsair Deluxe (nearly identical to this machine) manual can be downloaded here: http://site.xavier.edu/polt/typewriters/SCCorsairDeluxe.pdf.
I would not really recommend using this machine heavily (ex: writing something large like a novel), however this machine is still a decent typer and can be used frequently.
