Up for sale is a solid Smith-Corona Galaxie Twelve (named in part from its 12" carriage) which was made sometime in the 1970s. This typewriter is in near mint shape, and is fully functional right down to the bell. The Galaxie Twelve and similar SCM models are among my favorite machines to use heavily, particularly because of how reliable they are to write with and how smooth and fast they type. This typewriter is also very easy to use and maintain, and uses universal ribbons which are sold on this site. The owner's manual for 1970's midsized portables can be downloaded for free here: http://site.xavier.edu/polt/typewriters/SC1976.pdf.
As I previously mentioned, this typewriter is in excellent shape both cosmetically and mechanically. The paint has few scratches and looks beautiful, and the typewriter operates extremely smoothly with no rust to be found anywhere. The carrying case has a few scratches, however it has done an excellent job in protecting the typewriter over the years.
If you're looking for a workhorse to use heavily and reliably, then this is one of the best options.
