Up for sale is a common Smith-Corona Sterling (5A-Series) which was manufactured in 1954. This model was extremely popular and sold well for Smith-Corona, but for good reason. The Sterling is an excellent machine to write with, and it's very easy to use and maintain. This typewriter is in fully functional shape although it has some cosmetic flaws. The crinkle paint finish is pretty clean, considering it was thoroughly scrubbed with dishwashing liquid & water, as well as toothpaste. There are some areas of missing paint, scratches, and even a minor (not deep) dent on the left body. The case is a bit rough, but it is still completely functional and serves its purpose (see all pictures.) As you can see by the type sample, this typewriter is an excellent typer and prints very well. Just as all the post-war SCM mid-sized portables are, this machine is an excellent machine to use heavily, and is a reliable workhorse despite being made in 1954. This typewriter uses universal ribbons which are sold on this site, and the owner's manual can be downloaded for free here: http://site.xavier.edu/polt/typewriters/SC1950s.pdf
