Up for sale is a beautiful "Star mist Blue" Smith-Corona Sterling (5AX-Series) which was made in America in 1966. This typewriter is one of my personal favorites, particularly because it combines SCM's trusty and smooth mechanism featured on all their 1950s-1980s manual portables with an attractive, streamlined "Super 5" body design. This particular typewriter is in near mint shape, and is fully functional right down to the bell. With just one minor ding on the front-right corner near the spacebar, the original blue paint is in excellent shape and looks extremely clean. As with other 5AX-Series Sterling typewriters, and most SCM machines, this typewriter is an excellent workhorse which can definitely be used heavily and reliably. This typewriter is easy to use and care for, and uses universal ribbons which are sold on this site. The owner's manual can be viewed for free here: http://site.xavier.edu/polt/typewriters/SCSterlingManual1963.pdf.
This typewriter also comes with a few extras, including the key for locking/unlocking the case, an eraser with brush, SCM's 5 year warranty with the proof of purchase date (5-24-1966).
If you're looking for an attractive post-war machine that can be used heavily, then you can't go wrong with this Sterling.
