Up for sale is a Smith-Corona Silent which was manufactured in 1952. This typewriter is in good shape overall, and is fully functional right down to the bell. Unfortunately this typewriter has a stain on the typebasket cover above the "Smith-Corona" lettering. This stain may be removable, however I didn't use anything harsher than scrubbing with dishwashing liquid and water in order to avoid damaging the original crinkle paint. The only other minor issue with this machine is that the latch on the case only half-works. The left part of the latch is functional, however the right-hand side is not. Despite this, the case does latch and stay shut without any trouble.
The typewriter itself, minus the cosmetic flaw, is in great shape and otherwise looks beautiful. Mechanically, this typewriter is fully functional right down to the bell and is an excellent machine to type with. If you're looking for a reliable '50s typewriter and don't mind the minor cosmetic flaw, then this is a great typewriter for the price.
