Up for sale is a nice old Royal Quiet Deluxe which was made in 1948. This typewriter was Royal's last portable which had "glass keys." This typewriter is in excellent shape overall, and is fully functional right down to the bell. Cosmetically, there isn't too much to complain about. The crinkle paint finish is in great shape, as well as the chrome. Some of the keytops are slightly cloudy/foggy looking for some reason, however that's pretty much it (see photos). Mechanically, this typewriter is pretty solid and is an excellent typewriter to type with. Despite being from the '40s, this typewriter has just about every single feature the later Royal QDL models had, and it looks classier at the same time. As with other QDL models, this machine is extremely easy to use and care for. This typewriter uses universal ribbons which are sold on this website, and the owner's manual can be downloaded for free here: http://www.machinesoflovinggrace.com/manuals/Manual-RoyalQDL48.pdf.
Despite trying to clean the front of the case, it still appears to be dirty, but the buyer may have better luck if they wish.
Overall, if you're looking for a nice '40s typewriter that still can be used pretty heavily and reliably, then this is an excellent choice.
