Up for sale is a beautiful Smith-Corona Clipper which was made in 1956. The "Clipper" name began in the 1940s for Smith-Corona after Pan-Am's Boeing Clipper popularized air travel. This typewriter is in near mint shape both cosmetically and mechanically, and is fully functional right down to the bell. Cosmetically, the only scratch is on the ribbon cover from the carriage return lever, which is now high enough above the body so that it does not come close to making contact and grinding any longer. The metal/chrome on this typewriter shines beautifully without any signs of rust or pitting. Even the carrying case for this machine is in impressive condition. Mechanically, this typewriter is an excellent typewriter that writes smoothly and reliably. If you're looking for a dependable workhorse to use heavily and frequently, then this is an excellent option. This typewriter is also extremely easy to use and care for. Universal ribbons which are sold on this site fit this machine perfectly, so it won't be any issue keeping this machine typing for years to come. The owner's manual for this machine can be downloaded for free here: http://site.xavier.edu/polt/typewriters/SC1958.pdf
