Up for sale is an early Royal (Silver-Seiko) Mercury which was likely made sometime in the 1960s. This typewriter was manufactured in Japan, with a serial number of MC7482323. This is the only Mercury that I've owned that has a unique "Mercury" label on paper table, suggesting that this is a slightly different and likely earlier variant. The serial number is also not on the rear body of the machine as usual; instead it's on a metal piece behind/under the left-hand ribbon spool facing upwards. This particular machine is in great shape, and is fully functional down to the bell. The plastic keys have a slight yellow tint to them, as does the case lid, however this is not out of the norm for this model. This typewriter can handle heavy use, however it was not designed to be a novel-writer. Instead, it was marketed for kids to complete homework assignments and smaller writing tasks, which this typewriter still handles with ease. This typewriter is reliable and trustworthy, however its touch is not the most ergonomic compared to other, more full-sized models. With that in mind, however, this typewriter is very small and light and is great to travel with. Universal ribbons fit this machine perfectly, and are sold on this site.
