Up for sale is a popular Smith-Corona Sterling which was made in 1957. This typewriter is in near mint shape all around- both cosmetically and mechanically. The chrome on this typewriter shines like new, and the crinkle paint has very few flaws with no scratches or missing paint. The "holiday carrying case" is also in great shape, and is very clean. Included inside the case is the original key attached to a small leaflet about the "new" case and how to use it. Mechanically, this typewriter is fully functional right down to the bell and is a very smooth typewriter to write on. The Sterling and related models were popular in the 1950s, and they remain very popular to this day. Combined with its classy '50s looks, this typewriter is a very trustworthy workhorse that can still be used heavily and frequently. It's also extremely easy to use and maintain, and uses universal ribbons which are sold on this site. The owner's manual can be found here: http://site.xavier.edu/polt/typewriters/SC1950s.pdf
If you're looking for a classic '50s portable that can still be used reliably, this is a great one.
