Up for sale is a true workhorse- a Smith-Corona Classic 12 which was manufactured in 1976. This typewriter may not be the prettiest or the oldest, however it's one of the best manual typewriters out there for heavy use. If you're looking to write a novel on a manual, then this is probably in the top 3 typewriters that I'd suggest writing it with. This typewriter is in near mint shape- with the only flaw being that the keys are slightly yellowed. The blue paint is in great shape, and so is the carrying case. Mechanically- as I said before, this typewriter is ideal for heavy typing. It's extremely easy to get a high WPM on this machine, as the touch is very light and smooth. The mechanism is extremely reliable and trustworthy, and this typewriter is ready for years and years of use to come. Universal ribbons (sold on this site) fit this machine perfectly, and the ribbon installation process on this machine is easier than any other typewriter out there. The 12 inch carriage is especially handy for writing landscape-wise on standard 8 x 11 printer paper.
To sum it up, this typewriter may not have looks, but it's an absolute beast when it comes to typing. If you're looking for a workhorse to "use and abuse" for years to come, then this is the one.
