Up for sale is an absolutely beautiful Smith-Corona Clipper which was made in 1946. The Clipper was Smith-Corona's post-war Standard model after the company resumed manufacturing after the end of WWII. This model features Smith-Corona's attractive "speedline" body with jet black crinkle paint. The Clipper was named after Boeing's 314 Clipper- which although was retired by Pan-Am in 1946- still continued to represent a new era of elegant, luxurious travel, and which this typewriter is directly associated with. This typewriter itself is in impressive condition all around, with very few paint flaws or imperfections. Mechanically, this typewriter is fully functional right down to the bell and is a superior typewriter to write with. The typing mechanism is extremely smooth and reliable, and is a favorite among many writers and collectors. This typewriter has the same exact mechanism as the Silent speedline model, which is a favorite of Tom Hanks. The carrying case could use some more attention if the buyer wishes, however it's in good shape and does its job well. This typewriter uses universal ribbons which are sold on this website. The owner's manual for this typewriter can be downloaded here: http://site.xavier.edu/polt/typewriters/SmithCoronaFloatingShift1949.pdf
