Up for sale is a great Smith-Corona Sterling which was manufactured in 1950. This typewriter is in excellent shape both mechanically and cosmetically, however it has a few cosmetic issues- mainly, the stain above the Smith-Corona emblem on the typebasket/ribbon cover. Other than that stain, this typewriter has very few cosmetic flaws, and looks beautiful. Mechanically, this typewriter is 100% fully functional, and is an extremely smooth and reliable typewriter. If you're looking for a workhorse to do some heavy and frequent typing on- this typewriter is ready for the job. This typewriter is also very easy to use and care for, and uses universal ribbons which are sold on this site. Also included is the original owner's manual. The only major complaint surrounding this typewriter has to deal with the fact that the top part of the latch is missing. Therefore, the case does not latch. However, if you wish to carry this typewriter by the handle, you may do so, however you have to keep the bottom half of the case (The part that the typewriter latches in to) against your leg as it is carried and the case will remain closed. Either way, if you were planning on travelling with this typewriter (either to something local such as a park- or something more extreme such as a vacation) I would probably recommend finding a new case or buying a different typewriter. If you're not concerned about the missing part of the latch (again- the typewriter does latch into the bottom of the case/base, however the case itself does not latch and remain closed) then this would make an excellent deal, since this typewriter would be more expensive had the latch been in-tact and working.
