Up for sale is nice little Olympia Socialite which was made in Western Germany in 1963. The Socialite is very similar to the SF model, and shares the same chassis, however it was not made with a ribbon color selector, and therefore it can only take a single-color ribbon. This typewriter also has a plastic lid which latches onto the typewriter instead of being put into flimsy case with zippers. Although this typewriter is very small and ultra-portable, this typewriter is an excellent machine to write with and is of course a German-made Olympia which never fails to satisfy. This machine is a smooth typer and is a joy to use. Everything on this typewriter works perfectly, right down to the bell. Cosmetically, this typewriter is also in impressive condition with only one small spot of missing paint on the left side of the ribbon cover from the carriage return lever (which folds downwards slightly to fit in the case).
This Socialite is a really easy to machine to use and care for, and does use universal ribbons- just keep in mind that you can't get a dual-colored ribbon. The original owner's manual is also included with this machine.
If you're looking for a cute well-made and designed machine that's ready to be used heavily and reliably, then this is a good choice.
