Up for sale is a pretty Olivetti Lettera 22 which was manufactured in Italy in 1955. This typewriter is in near mint shape overall, and is fully functional right down to the bell. The only complaint with this typewriter is that the two zippers for the case are partially "de-railed" and so the zippers need to be repaired for the case to properly zip. If anyone has experience sewing, this would make a good project as this typewriter would be more expensive had the zippers been completely functional. For now, a bungee cord is being used to keep the case shut. This typewriter would not be my very first choice to write a novel on, however this machine is a smooth and reliable typer and could definitely stand up to heavy and frequent use. The Lettera 22 is mainly known for its portability and classy looks, but it still is a good functional machine to write on. This typewriter does not use the universal ribbons sold on this site, however it does use this variant of universal ribbon: (click on text here)
This typewriter is fairly easy to use and care for, especially with the help of the manual. The owner's manual for this typewriter can be found here: http://site.xavier.edu/polt/typewriters/OlivettiLettera22manual.pdf
If you're in the market for a nice looking '50s machine in blue that can be used frequently and reliably, then this is a great and popular choice.
