Up for sale is a beautiful Sears Citation 2 which was purchased on Feb. 22, 1967 for $82.35 (about $625 in today's money). This typewriter is in impressive condition both cosmetically and mechanically, however it isn't perfect. The blue paint looks excellent, however it has a few light white spots on the typebasket cover. The hinge on the back of the case has some rust, however it's purely cosmetic and doesn't effect the functionality of the case.
This typewriter also comes with the original owner's manual, the key, and even the original receipt- which is extremely rare to still have with the typewriter (see pictures).
This typewriter is an extremely nice typer, and can definitely be used heavily and frequently. If you're looking for something to write a novel on, then this typewriter would be one of my highest recommendations. This typewriter is also very easy to use and care for, and uses universal ribbons which are sold on this site.
The Citation 2 is essentially a Smith-Corona portable of the same era, however it's rebranded and has a different body style. For the most part, the mechanisms are nearly identical, and so despite the Sears name, the quality is the same as you'd get with a Smith-Corona machine.
