1957 Smith-Corona Clipper
Up for sale is a nice Smith-Corona Clipper (5-C Series) which was manufactured in 1957. This typewriter is in good shape overall, and cleaned up very nicely. This typewriter is fully functional down to the bell, and makes for an excellent workhorse. Cosmetically, there are a few scratches and stains (despite being thoroughly cleaned) on the paint. The largest scratch is across the left side of the typebasket cover from the carriage return lever (which does not make contact with the cover unless the cover is not shut as it should be).
This typewriter is not only an excellent typer, but it's also extremely easy to use and care for. The owner's manual can be downloaded for free here: http://site.xavier.edu/polt/typewriters/SC1958.pdf
Universal ribbons, which are sold on this site, fit this machine perfectly, so there are no worries about not being able to keep this typewriter running for many years to come.
The carrying case was thoroughly scrubbed with a bleach-solution, so it's extremely clean. The two hinges on the back of the case tend to come undone frequently (only after opening the case, not upon carrying it) however they can simply be popped back into place without too much effort.
If you're looking for a classic, popular '50s machine to use heavily and frequently, then this is an excellent, clean option.
