1970s Typewriters Works Omega II
Up for sale is a unique machine which was manufactured in Plovdiv, Bulgaria- an Omega II produced by Typewriters Works. This typewriter, especially in the duo-tone color combination that it is in, is a rather uncommon and collectible machine. There is not a lot of information available on this typewriter manufacturer or model. Despite its small size, this typewriter is an impressively smooth and reliable typewriter. Cosmetically, this machine is in good shape with only a few tiny areas of paint loss from the carriage return lever against the typebasket cover. Mechanically, everything is fully functional right down to the bell, and this machine is an excellent, smooth typer. It uses universal ribbons which are sold on this site, and is also a rather easy machine to use. The only complaint about this machine is that the case does not latch (which seems to be extremely common for this model) however I am including a bungee cord which holds the case shut so that it can be carried by the handle normally. Also included with this typewriter are the owner's manual, a warranty, and the original typing test page from the factory- which is a rare addition to any typewriter.
Putting everything together, this machine would be best for a collector or enthusiast who can appreciate the design, foreign brand, original documentation, and the rarity of this machine. This typewriter is also a great machine for frequent and reliable use, however if you're looking for a smaller portable for reliable use, you are probably better off finding a domestic-brand machine that is more common, and thus a better value if you aren't interested in the collectible aspect of this machine.
