1970s Royal Mercury
Up for sale is a nice little Royal Mercury which was made in Japan sometime in the late ‘60s or early ‘70s. This machine is in near mint shape all around, and is fully functional right down to the bell. Cosmetically, this machine is in great condition with only a few small scratches here and there. I have replaced the rubber feet on the bottom of the typewriter, so there are definitely no worries about this machine sliding around when typing. This typewriter also comes with an original information card from the factory (see pictures).
The Mercury is a great low-budget machine all around, and it's easy to use and take care of. The user manual for this machine can be downloaded here: http://machinesoflovinggrace.com/manuals/RoyalSilver-Seikomanual.pdf
This typewriter also uses universal ribbons which are sold on this site.
The Mercury wouldn't be my first choice for heavier writing such as novel-writing or anything involving using this machine for a long period at a time. The typewriter itself is very reliable and dependable, however the touch isn't the most soothing compared to other more high end machines. If you want to write a page or two at a time, this typewriter is a great option and will tackle the job. Additionally, its light weight and slim size make it a great traveler.
