1968 Royal Custom
Up for sale is a nice Royal Custom which was made in 1968. This machine is in great shape overall, although it has a few areas of missing paint (see pictures). Everything is fully functional on this machine as it should be, right down to the bell. This typewriter has a smooth and light touch, and can definitely be used heavily and frequently. The design of this machine is rather unique and intriguing, and is right out of the space age. Some people find the body style to be attractive while others are not a fan. Regardless, the mechanisms are nearly the same as other Royal portables of the era, so this machine isn’t anything to special or unique mechanically- which isn’t bad since Royal’s have a great touch and are extremely reliable machines.
Universal ribbons fit this typewriter perfectly and are sold on this site. The owner’s manual for the Safari- a close relative to this machine can be downloaded for free here: http://site.xavier.edu/polt/typewriters/RoyalSafariManual1964.pdf
This typewriter also comes with the original sales receipt for when this typewriter was purchased used in 1974.
