1961 Underwood-Olivetti Studio 44
Up for sale is an Underwood-Olivetti Studio 44 which was manufactured in 1961 or 1962. This Studio 44 was made after Olivetti merged with Underwood- hence the branding, but it is of Olivetti design. This machine is larger than most portables, and is rather deep (from front to rear of machine) however it is an excellent workhorse. Because of its size and weight, this would not be the ideal candidate to travel with, however it is a great machine to treat as a small desktop that conveniently has a carrying case. This machine is in excellent shape all around, although there is light evidence of cosmetic wear. Mechanically, this machine is in perfect shape and is fully functional right down to the bell. Its large size helps make this machine an excellent typer that can be depended on for many years to come. This typewriter also comes with the original owner's manual and small cleaning kit, as well as the key to the case. Universal ribbons which are sold on this site fit this machine perfectly, however you may want to consider re-threading the original spools, or at least not throwing them out since they are metal and not made any more.
If you're looking for an excellent larger-sized portable that can stand up to heavy use (such as writing a novel) then this is an excellent candidate.
