1960s Cursive Smith-Corona Galaxie Deluxe
Up for sale is a Smith-Corona Galaxie Deluxe which writes in Script (Cursive). This typewriter was likely made sometime in the mid/late 1960s or early 1970s- the serial number information for this model is not clear. This typewriter only types with a single color ribbon because the text is too large to have a dual color ribbon, but any single color universal ribbon will fit this machine perfectly. This typewriter itself is in near mint shape, and is fully functional right down to the bell. Cosmetically, there are also very few flaws; this machine was cared for well. The Galaxie Deluxe shares the same design and mechanism as Smith-Corona's other portables from the era. It's a very dependable and reliable machine to use heavily, making this typewriter a great option for heavy and frequent use. The owner's manual can be downloaded for free here: http://site.xavier.edu/polt/typewriters/SCportables1970s.pdf
With the guidance of the user manual, this machine is very easy to use and maintain. The touch is very consistent and light, and is one of the easiest manuals to write on.
If you're looking for a script machine to use heavily, this is one of the best options out there.
Keep in mind that script typewriters are much more uncommon and collectible compared to other machines- hence the price.
