1962 Olympia SM5
Up for sale is a solid Olympia SM5 which was made in Western Germany in 1962. This typewriter is in excellent shape both cosmetically and mechanically, and would be perfect for heavy use. The SM5 is just about identical to the SM3 mechanically, but appears slightly more modern and cheap than its ancestors. This machine is extremely easy to use and take care of, and it's one of the most reliable typewriters out there. Universal ribbons fit this typewriter perfectly, so there is no question that it will be easy keeping this typewriter typing for years to come.
The inside of the carrying case has a few stains, however the outside and rest of the case are in great condition.
Keep in mind that this machine types in the slightly smaller elite pitch (12 characters per inch) as opposed to the pica typeface which is 10 characters per inch.
