1970s Olivetti Lettera 35i
Here's a neat-looking Olivetti Lettera 35i which was made sometime in the 1970s in Mexico. The Lettera 35i has the same identical mechanism and inner workings of all the other Olivetti portables of the same era (and a decade prior), but with a streamlined, all metal body. Despite what this machine is, and considering that other portables usually had all plastic bodies, this typewriter is surprisingly solid and heavy. Unfortunately this machine does not have a carrying case, so it's best fit to stay at home on a desk. The Olivetti mechanism is nothing too special or noteworthy, but it is very reliable and can be worked heavily and frequently, although it wouldn't be my very first choice to write something like a novel with. The universal ribbons sold on this site fit this machine- you just have to use a little down-force to get the spools to sit correctly. This machine's user manual can be downloaded here: http://site.xavier.edu/polt/typewriters/Lettera35.pdf
