1960 Remington Quiet-Riter Eleven
Up for sale is a neat Remington Quiet-Riter Eleven which was manufactured in 1960. This typewriter is on the large size for a portable, but its smooth typing mechanism and reliability make this machine an excellent workhorse. This machine also really stands out, with its beautiful orange paint finish, which is still in excellent shape. The only complaint with this machine is that a very small outer part of the right-hand carriage knob is missing, but it's extremely hard to notice and does not impact your ability to feed paper into the machine.
As I mentioned before, this typewriter is an extremely smooth and trustworthy typewriter, and I would highly recommend it for heavier writing such as a novel. Keep in mind that this machine has a slightly smaller than standard 12 pitch font as opposed to 10 pitch.
I could not locate a user's manual anywhere online for this machine, but other Remington manuals available for free download online are still a good reference, since many things from other Remington models still apply to this model.
The universal ribbons sold on this site do fit this machine, but you have to pop out the "core" of the universal spools for them to fit in the machine.
If you're looking for a reliable workhorse that types great while looking great at the same time, then this is a great choice!
