1962 Royal Companion
Up for sale is a nice little Royal Companion which was manufactured in 1962. This model is extremely similar to the Royal Royalite, except it does not have a ribbon color selector. Therefore, despite having a 2 color ribbon installed, this machine will only type on the top half of the ribbon (black). This typewriter is in exceptional shape all around, and is fully functional down to the bell. The carrying case is also in remarkable shape despite beingleather. While this typewriter is fully functional, the typewriter smudges a bit below the text from the bottom half of the ribbon. Overall, this machine (as do the Royalite machines) feels a bit cheap compared to other more full-sized machines, but still can be used frequently, and frankly- as heavily as your fingers wish. This would not be on my list of machines to write a novel on, not because the typewriter couldn't handle it, but because of the ergonomics.
Still, this typewriter would make a great first-typewriter, and is still a decent machine to write with. It uses universal ribbons which are sold on this site, and the owner's manual for the Royalite (very similar model) can be downloaded for free here: https://site.xavier.edu/polt/typewriters/Royalite.pdf
