1958 Remington Letter-Riter
Up for sale is a nice Remington Letter-Riter which was made in 1958. This typewriter would be just about perfect and would be selling for much more, however the "Remington" on the typebasket cover is half-broken off. If that doesn't turn you off, then this typewriter is a great deal, because it is just about perfect otherwise. Mechanically, this machine is fully functional right down to the bell. This typewriter is a very smooth typewriter that only requires a light touch. Cosmetically- other than the Remington text being partially cut off, this typewriter looks great. The paint is in great shape, and the metal has no rust. The case is also in pretty good shape for its age.
This typewriter uses universal ribbons which are sold on this site, however the center/core part of the spools needs to be removed (which can easily be done by pushing the core out from the top)
The owner's manual can be downloaded for free here for this series of typewriter: https://site.xavier.edu/polt/typewriters/quietriter.pdf
If you're searching for a great deal on a reliable workhorse that doesn't have to be cosmetically perfect, then this is a great option.
