1946 Underwood Standard
Up for sale is an amazing Underwood Standard which was made in America in 1946. This typewriter did not have a particular model name, so it's simply referred to as the "Standard."
Notable on this machine is the chrome trim across the lower body, as well as the largely closed-off body which kept the inner workings of this typewriter free of dust as much as possible. This typewriter is in near mint shape overall, and is fully functional right down to the bell. It types in a nice crisp, standard 10 pitch pica font. It's a very smooth typer, and is very easy to write with. The touch is light and smooth, so there's no doubt that this machine would make an excellent workhorse to write a novel or other works requiring heavy and frequent typing.
Universal ribbons will fit this typewriter perfectly. The owner's manual for a very similar machine can be downloaded for free here: https://site.xavier.edu/polt/typewriters/UnderwoodRhythmTouch.pdf
If you're looking for a reliable workhorse with excellent 1940's character, then this is the machine for your desk!
