1958 Olympia SM3
Up for sale is a beautiful Olympia SM3 which was manufactured in Western Germany in 1958. This typewriter is in magnificent condition overall, but has a few cosmetic flaws in the paint- mainly light scratches or chips. Most SM3/SM4 series typewriters have a crinkle finish, however this machine has a really pretty cream glossy paint finish, which is a bit more unique. This machine is fully functional down to the bell, and is an amazing machine to write with, as Olympia typewriters always are. This typewriter also comes with a really neat marketing brochure as well as the owner's manual.
Keep in mind that this typewriter writes in "Congress Pica" so the font is a little unique- but it looks great in my opinion. The Pica designation in the font name means that it types in the standard 10 characters per inch.
Other than how smoothly this machine writes, the only other thing worth pointing out is how excellent of condition that the carrying case is in. It's not only very clean, but was cared for very well, which is rare for a machine this old.
Universal ribbons fit this machine perfectly, and are sold on this site.
If you're looking for an excellent trusty German-made workhorse that's ready to be used heavily and reliably, then this is a great choice in addition to the many other Olympia typewriters that I currently have for sale.
