1958 Olympia SF
Up for sale is a pretty Olympia SF; the "SF" standing for Schreibmaschine Flach, which translates directly to "Flat Typewriter." This machine is just that, if you compare it to the fuller-sized SM series. This machine, despite its small size, still packs a punch, and is still has some weight to it, considering most of this machine is metal. It's a smooth typer, and has a shorter throw compared to the larger portables. The only slight downside is the lack of a ribbon color selector, so only single color ribbons can be used. That being said, any "universal" ribbon will fit this machine without any issues. This typewriter is fully functional right down to the bell, and despite being a lot smaller, still is a smooth typer that can be used heavily and reliably. This typewriter writes in a slightly smaller "elite" typeface, meaning it types 12 characters per inch.
The carrying case is also in decent shape, but has been repaired by the previous owner, since it had several areas that had cracked. Despite how it looks in some spots, the case actually holds together very well, and still does its job perfectly.
The owner's manual for this machine can be downloaded for free here: https://site.xavier.edu/polt/typewriters/OlympiaSFrounded.pdf
If you're in the market for a smaller machine that can still serve as a reliable workhorse for years to come, then this is a great choice.
