1968 Olympia SM8
Up for sale is a nice Olympia SM8 which was manufactured in 1968. This typewriter is very similar to the SM9 of the '60s, but does not have a keyset tabulator or chrome carriage ends, similar to the redesign of the SM9 of the '70s.
This particular machine is in near mint shape both cosmetically and mechanically. This typewriter is in fully functional shape, right down to the bell, and just like the SM9 and other Olympia machines in general, is a top tier typewriter to write with. The touch is smooth, light, and responsive, and the machine prints reliably and crisply.
Universal ribbons fit this machine perfectly, and are sold on this site. The owner's manual for the SM9 (extremely similar model feature-wise) can be downloaded for free here: https://site.xavier.edu/polt/typewriters/OlympiaSM9.pdf
The carrying case is also in pretty exceptional condition, especially considering it's leather. Both zippers and their associated tracks are completely in-tact and functional, which is not too common.
If you're in the market for a reliable workhorse to do some heavy writing with, then this is yet another great choice.
