1957 Remington Letter-Riter
Up for sale is a nice Remington Letter-Riter which was manufactured in 1957. This typewriter is in near mint shape, and is fully functional right down to the bell. The paint is in great shape, and there are very few cosmetic flaws to complain about. The material on the inside of the case is slowly coming off (a common occurrence with this model) so you may have to wipe the machine off quickly after sitting in the case for awhile. This typewriter is an extremely smooth and reliable machine, and makes for an excellent workhorse that can be used heavily and frequently. Universal ribbons fit this machine perfectly, however the 'core' of the spools has to be pushed out in order to fit. The owner's manual can be downloaded for free here: http://site.xavier.edu/polt/typewriters/quietriter.pdf
This typewriter is on the larger size, so it doesn't make for a great traveler, however it excels in tackling heavy and frequent use. This would be a good novel-writer.
