1934 Remington Portable Model 5
Up for sale is a beautiful Remington Portable Model 5 which was manufactured in 1934. This typewriter is in excellent condition both cosmetically and mechanically, and is fully functional right down to the bell. The labels show some evidence of wear, however the black paint shines very well and has very few flaws. The carrying case definitely shows its age, but the leather handle is still in-tact. Despite this machine's old age, it can still be used reliable on a frequent basis, however it wouldn't be my first choice for heavy writing such as a novel. Universal ribbons do not fit this machine, so you will either have to re-thread the original spools with the ribbon from the universal spools, or purchase ribbons specifically for early Remington Portables.
If you're in the market for a classic Remington portable from the '30s that can still be used reliably, then this is a great choice.
