1957 Groma Kolibri
Up for sale is a legendary Groma Kolibri which was manufactured in 1954 in USSR-occupied Germany (although it is only labeled as Germany on this machine- possibly to mask its communist roots at a time of anti-soviet sentiment in the west where this typewriter was marketed and sold. This typewriter is very well known and sought after in the typewriter community, and for good reason. The attractive and high-end ultra portable design coupled with a very smooth and reliable mechanism makes this typewriter an awesome machine to type on, but also to collect. It's both an amazing workhorse, but also an awesome conversation piece. More can be read about the Kolibri here on 'Typewriter Review': https://typewriterreview.com/2015/11/19/groma-kolibri/
This particular typewriter is in excellent condition all around, and is fully functional down to the bell. There are some scratches on the paint in some spots, but most are hardly noticeable. The leather carrying case is also in great shape, and still does its job as it should. As I've said before, this typewriter is a great workhorse, and although it could definitely be an option to write a novel on, it would not be my very first choice. If you're looking to take a typewriter with you for writing wherever you go, this perhaps the best typewriter for that.
Universal ribbons do not fit this typewriter, however the original metal spools are perfect for re-threading any standard (including universal ribbon) with, as long as it's a single-color ribbon since this typewriter does not have ribbon color selector. If you're in the market for a highly collectible workhorse that can type and impress on the go, then this is one of the best options out there.
