1948 Royal Quiet Deluxe
Up for sale is a nice Royal Quiet Deluxe which was made in America in 1948. This typewriter is a favorite of mine- combining classy late '40s looks with a smooth and reliable mechanism, and the newer "keystone" shaped keytops that Royal would carry through the '50s. This particular machine is fully functional down to the bell, however there are a handful of cosmetic flaws which are all visible in the photos. Some of the metal parts have some corrosion, although none of the corrosion is impacting the functionality of the machine. The rubber feet also show their age, and could be replaced for an extra $40 if the buyer wishes (https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Replacement-Rubber-Feet-for-Royal-Quiet-DeLuxe-Portable-Typewriter-Set-of-4/262126564990?hash=item3d07f5f67e:g:IOkAAOSwwbdWOTNB). The carrying case also shows its age, and has some wear and tear, although it still does its job well.
This typewriter is extremely easy to use and care for, and uses universal ribbons which are sold on this site. The owner's manual for this machine can be downloaded for free here: http://www.machinesoflovinggrace.com/manuals/Manual-RoyalQDL48.pdf
If you're in market for a classic '40s typewriter that isn't perfect, but can still be used heavily and reliably, then this is a great option!
