1970s Royal Mercury
Up for sale is a nice little Royal Mercury which was made in Japan sometime in the late ‘60s or early ‘70s. This machine is in great shape all around, and is fully functional right down to the bell. There are a few very small cosmetic flaws on the front body (near the spacebar) however the paint is largely in great shape overall. The plastic carrying case lid is discolored and also has a crack in the rear corner, however it still does its job perfectly well.
The Mercury is a great low-budget machine all around, and it's easy to use and take care of. The user manual for this machine can be downloaded here: http://machinesoflovinggrace.com/manuals/RoyalSilver-Seikomanual.pdf
This typewriter also uses universal ribbons which are sold on this site.
The Mercury wouldn't be my first choice for heavier writing such as novel-writing or anything involving using this machine for a long period at a time. The typewriter itself is very reliable and dependable, and the touch on this Mercury actually seems a bit more pleasing than most other Mercury models I have worked on in the past.If you want to write a page or two at a time, this typewriter is a great option and will tackle the job. Additionally, its light weight and slim size make it a great traveler.
