1963 Hermes 3000
Up for sale is one of the most sought after machines among typewriter enthusiasts and writers alike- the Swiss-made Hermes 3000. This one was manufactured in 1964. An effective review on this model can be read here: https://typewriterreview.com/2013/06/18/hermes-3000/
To sum everything up about the Hermes 3000- it's one of the most incredible portable typewriters ever designed in all aspects. The features, ultra smooth mechanics, and striking body design were extremely ahead of its time. As such, this machine was an extreme success. It remains one of the most popular machines among many known names, including Tom Hanks.
This particular 3000 is in near mint shape, however there is a spring in the latch for the case. The case will only latch if the handle is pulled outwards, which keeps the latch engaged. This happens to be convenient, however it is worth noting that the latch operation doesn't work exactly how it should. I am still in the process of fixing this if the typewriter doesn't sell, so the missing spring in the latch is reflected in the current price and will change if repaired. The carrying case is a rare fabric-covered version, which is in mostly good shape except for some staining on the inside fabric. The paint on this machine is nearly perfect (especially for its age), with hardly any cosmetic flaws to be seen. The rubber (platen, feed rollers, and feet) are all in great shape and have very little wear.
This typewriter uses universal ribbons sold on this site, and the owner's manual can be accessed for free here: https://site.xavier.edu/polt/typewriters/Hermes3000-Media3_Manual.pdf
If you're a writer looking for one of the best portable workhorses ever made, then this is my highest recommendation for you as long as you can appreciate everything about the Hermes 3000, including the resulting price for all its glory.
