1940s Remington Rand Deluxe
Up for sale is a nice Remington Rand Deluxe which was made in Canada sometime in the 1940s. Unfortunately, I could not locate any serial number information on this specific Canadian-made model, so I'm not sure when exactly it was manufactured. Besides the different label on the rear of the machine (which is extremely crisp)! it is essentially identical to the American-made Remington Deluxe machines, also known as the Deluxe model 5. This particular machine is in great shape all around, with some light cosmetic spotty discoloration. Even the carrying case is in amazing shape for its age, and has very little wear. The typewriter is fully functional, but may be better with a single color black ribbon because the bottom halves of the letters come out red even when the color setting is for black. I can install an all black ribbon upon request, but it may add a little delay to the shipping. This typewriter does not use universal ribbons, so the original metal spools can be re-thread with any standard 1/2 inch ribbon. This typewriter is otherwise fully functional, and is a great machine to write on despite its old age. While it would not be my first choice for heavy writing (such as a novel), this machine is still a very capable workhorse.
