1952 Underwood Champion "Finger-Flite"
Up for sale is a nice Underwood "Finger-Flite" Champion ('improved' L-series) which was made in 1952. This machine sat in a display case for an insurance agency in New York City, and appears that it was seldom used, if at all. It's essentially in mint shape minus what appears to be some slight deforming to the front frame (near the spacebar). Cosmetically, the paint is just about flawless all around, and mechanically the typewriter is fully functional down to the bell. The case is also in near mint shape both inside and out, and also includes the original key and two rubber 'bumpers' that sit atop the typebasket cover to keep the typewriter from moving around inside the case if it were to come unlatched. I have never seen these bumpers before, but this typewriter still has them.
Universal ribbons, which are sold on this site, fit this typewriter. Theowner's manual can be downloaded here: https://site.xavier.edu/polt/typewriters/UnderwoodFingerFlite.pdf
This typewriter would not be my first recommendation for a novelist or heavy writer, but this typewriter is still an excellent workhorse that can be used heavily and reliably for years to come.
