1956 Optima Elite 3
Up for sale is an absolutely stunning Optima Elite 3 which was made in the Soviet Zone of occupied Germany in 1956. This typewriter shares a lot of similarities to Olympia typewriters because of Optima's relations with Olympia. More can be read about that here: https://www.antikeychop.com/optima-elite-typewriters
This typewriter is in excellent condition both cosmetically and mechanically. The paint is in amazing condition with only one barely noticeable chip on the paint on the typebasket/ribbon cover. The carrying case is also in pretty good shape, and the leather handle is completely in tact. Mechanically, this typewriter is an absolute dream to type on. The key strokes are about as light and smooth as manual typewriters can be, and the typeface is extremely crisp.
This typewriter uses universal ribbons, and is very easy to use and maintain. The paper support bracket piece is removable, and is stowed by a metal holder on the base part of the carrying case.
If you're looking for a highly collectible post-war machine that was made on the other side of the iron curtain for a change, then this is your typewriter!
